Some believe that before the foundations of the earth there were those who were called to do great things in life. Some are called as leaders some creators and innovators others visionaries. All of this through a simple of seed of potential. Through the process of time we see these seeds grow and bear fruit in the lives of those who stir thier gift…. Introducing Eric Christopher.

The son of a West Indian father and Canadian mother in the year 1981, Eric’s childhood was full of music which has always been an intricate part of his life. Early exposure to everything from Reggae, Calypso, Soca, 70’s Soul, 80’s Pop, Gospel and R&B, played a significant role in shaping his passion for music. However once introduced to Hip-hop, Eric Christopher found his musical first love.

At the age of 13 he began free-styling and at 16 he began writing. There after Eric became a member of a local group who released a mix-tape in the early 00’s; however through creative differences, among other issues the group eventually had to disband. Over the next few years Eric stepped away from the microphone to pursue other ventures as well as develop and grown mentally, emotionally and most importantly spiritually. This period created a more self aware and grounded individual which intern created a new musical direction for the talented artist.

Through his music Eric Christopher speaks life to a generation of youth and young adults; showing them that you don’t need to fall into the stereotypes perpetuated by the media in order to live a happy, healthy and successful life. Pulling from personal and second hand experiences as well as current events Eric takes an honest and very autobiographical approach to his artistry. Through that approach listeners get a chance to glimpse into a life that may not be so different from their own. Ultimately Eric’s goal is to express the importance of knowing who you really are and that victory is always within your reach.

There’s no way you could be a music fan without wanting to be a part of it. Whether it’s singing in the mirror or driving like you’re in a music video, there’s an undeniable pull to become an artist when a love for music runs deep.  For Eric Christopher, the chief editor of HeatCasters, he’s beginning to share his musical passion with the world.  Eric started the weekly Soulvivor Series as he gears up for his All Of Me EP.  At first listen of “Soulvivor #1”, I was struck by Eric’s voice.  His rich, deep tone glides over the beat with undeniable charm. Produced by Tall Black Guy, “SoulVivor“‘s mellow boom bap is perfect to vibe out to.  But beyond the tranquil beats lies an unique delivery.  ”Soulvivor” is dripping in self-assured metaphors (“killer behind bars minus the penitentiary”) but also boasts of God’s love (“blood bought the price for my flaws”). In including both, Eric Christopher reconciles Hip Hop’s cultural hubris with proclamations of the Christian faith.

The track is nice and caught us a bit off guard. Submissions from new artists like this are seemingly few and far between. Definitely check this one out and download it. Spread the word. Visit IamEricChristopher.com for a bit more information on Eric.
